I've gone from zero
To that of a hero
In the eyes of man
I only do what I can
I risked my life
For that of another
I ignored the strife
For my fellow brother
I look in the mirror
And what do I see
Staring back is a hero
Putting together the debris
I did what I should
Not for fame
Only for good
This isn't a game
I do what I must to sustain
But I countinue to refrain
I forever maintain
To keep this from my domain
I'm not here to entertain
I can't take the strain
I'm beginning to feel vain
As I enjoy my new reign
I saved a life once
But never again
I feel like a dunce
More now than then
I didn't want this sort of thing
This isn't who I really am
They all make me feel like a king
I am but a simple man
Please no more
I retire the cape
I'm closing the door
I must escape
If you need one
Become him
Fear what you might become
For it's a broken hymn
Can you handle the eyes?
The expecations?
You become symbolized
No negotiations
To that of a hero
In the eyes of man
I only do what I can
I risked my life
For that of another
I ignored the strife
For my fellow brother
I look in the mirror
And what do I see
Staring back is a hero
Putting together the debris

Literature
For the Ones Left Behind
I shed no tears for you who sleep,
nor for the clay that breathes no more;
for why should any faithful weep
for one who suffers nevermore?
These tears are for those left behind,
for us who must remain alone,
deprived of light nor hopeful sign,
long waiting for our journey home.
The years of life creep slowly by
while we await our coming end,
yet not a day marks those who die,
who with the angels Christ attend.
With spirit tongues, you sing of hope,
in song eternal life proclaim,
in vain attempt to help us cope
with never seeing you again.
Your joy cannot to earth descend,
nor douse bereavement's wicked bite,
so pray instead
Literature
Praying won't help.
How could you just sit there,
at the side of the bed,
with thoughts of the broken in your head,
with good will in your heart,
and no motive to do one god damn thing but pray?
You want them to get better,
but you sit still,
they die slowly,
so where's your good will?
It's in the air that you just whispered into,
maybe they'll hear it,
but that can't fix a collapsed home,
that can't mend a broken bone,
that can't remove sickness from the frail and old.
So what's the point?
You could donate a dollar to the kids without a house to call their own,
but you just express pity in the comfort of your home.
Literature
Courage
True courage, is when you take a stand for reality,
and don't cover it up and try to hide it..
...pretending it's not there.
A soldier doesn't hide from the enemy,
knowing his life and country are at risk..
...needing to take life seriously.
A friend doesn't back down,
from taking a stand for others when needed...
