The End Of The Beginning Part 10

It must have been a few hours by time Holly and Jet decided to finally take a break. Their legs were burning from the many steps they climbed. They were both exhausted.

"Can't walk anymore. We need a break," Jet said as he sat on a stair and grabbed into his backpack for a water bottle.

Holly sat next to him and did the same. But Holly's mind was elsewhere, as she rubbed her thumb along the ridge of the water bottles opening. Did that phantom show them the safest way up? Did that person seriously help them? That must have meant that this person has been watching them. Which means this person knew that she didn't want to save those other people. Yet this person still helped them.

Or could it be that they are just walking into yet another trap? What if this person is making them think that he is helping them, just to kill them later? That sure would suck. But still, deep down she felt that this person was helping them.

"If you aren't going to drink that, I sure will," Jet said, looking at her thumbing the water bottle. She took a sip, blowing him off. "You okay?"

"Yeah, just keep thinking about that guy that we saw. Was he helping us?" She asked him, turning to look at him.

"You know, I have been giving that some thought too. I won't be convinced until he does something else, or at least talk to us somehow. That would help an awful lot."

Holly nodded a bit, taking another sip. They still had about 10 flights to climb until this stairwell was done. That would bring them to the 75th floor. She was hoping at that point they would finally confront Dr. Lee and end this already.

T-03 was nearby, but didn't want to be seen, so he wasn't. He was considering it though. Should he? They seem to be able to take it, better now than ever anyway. He pondered this for some time. Lee wouldn't wonder where he was until later and this part of the building had no cameras. So it was now or never.

From a few flights above T-03 jumped down, landing in front of Jet and Holly. To which they both dropped their water and brought up their pistols. They didn't shoot, but they didn't lower their guns either.

"For heaven's sake, you don't scare people like that without attacking them shortly after, man!" Jet yelled, his heart was just about up in his throat at this point.

"Don't give the guy any freaking ideas, Jet!" Holly barked back, never taking her eyes off this hooded fella. "Who are you? And why did you help us?"

"My name is T-03, or at least that is the name given to me by Lee. I don't know why I helped you, but I felt like I needed to. We don't got too long to talk, but know that I will help you two on your mission as much as I could." T-03 told them, his red eye glowing a bit as it did some scanning of their gear.

"Good gosh, he is one of them," Jet said, raising his slowly lowering gun back up. To which T-03's eyes shifted from Holly to Jet. "We can't trust this guy, he is like them. Lee is probably watching us through him right now, Holly. We need to take him out, now!" Jet said, standing up now, gun aiming down at T-03.

Holly looked at T-03, giving it some thought. "Take your hood off." She commanded T-03.

T-03 hesitated for a bit, but he lowered his hood, revealing his semi long black straight hair, his half normal face and his cybernetic half of his face. He then took it to the next level, as he took his robe off, revealing that his legs were entirely cybernetic. His right arm was as well, while only his left hand was. Inside his cybernetic parts he had vials of blue liquid stored inside.

Holly gasped, never seeing one up close like this before. Taken a back she felt drawn to his cybernetic parts, and slowly reached towards his arm. Jet quickly grabbed her shoulder and pulled her back, getting between the two and bringing the gun to his head. "You tell me now if you are on Lee's side, or ours. So much as hesitate to answer and I swear I will blow your head off!" Jet barked at T-03.

In reply, T-03 quickly grabbed Jet's neck with his left hand, and grabbed Jet's gun with his right as he brought Jet down. Just enough to immobilize him, not to hurt. At least, not to hurt anymore than being slammed down onto the stairs. "If I wanted you dead, you would be by this point." He said disgustedly, then slowly let go of Jet's gun, and then took his hand off his neck.

Jet stood back up, not looking happy, but didn't bring his gun back up. He knew he lost there, and that if T-03 wanted to kill him, he would have been by now. "T-03, what kind of name is that anyway?" He asked, but was ignored.

"Why aren't you like the others?" Holly asked, curiously, "Why not kill us?"

"I already said I don't know why I don't want to kill you two, but you should know that Lee knew every movement you guys made since you walked into the building." T-03 informed them.

Jet was shocked at hearing this. "Wait. That could only mean he has someone on the inside. There were no cameras for the longest time." To this T-03 nodded.
